Asanas

A yogi in a still asana against a nature backdrop, embodying the balance of body, prana, and mind according to the teachings of ancient Rishis.

The ancient Rishis, who discovered Yoga, observed nature and animals. This is how yogic asanas (postures) originated. The Rishis revealed 84 asanas and 21 pranayamas.

The primary goal of asanas is the balance of the body. Through the correct performance of yogic asanas, physical imbalances can be corrected. Through asana and pranayama, one can radically transform their body. The body is subordinate to the mind, and therefore a conscious approach to such practices leads to significant results.

Furthermore, by controlling ourselves through the practice of asanas, we can control and discipline the mind. The correct execution of asanas should lead to the calming of the waves of thoughts on the surface of our consciousness. Ultimately, when an asana becomes perfect, we can achieve total peace and balance. Then the body, prana, and mind will abide in complete stillness. In this way, we can reach the culmination of concentration, which leads us into meditation and, subsequently, into Samadhi.
